As the non-executive Chair of Cadman Capital Group (CCG), a UK private equity firm focusing on SMEs, Giles led CCG to enter ethical aquaculture market in 2005 with the creation of Caribbean Sustainable Fisheries, a land-based spiny lobster farm located in the British Virgin Islands. Since then, the Group’s interest in aquaculture and blue economy companies has skyrocketed to its scale up of Ocean on Land Technology and the Oyster Restoration Company to its investments in Japan’s Urchinomics and Canada’s Quoddy Savour Seafood. As the Chair of Urchinomics, Giles helps the company restore vital kelp forests - which cool the ocean, sequester carbon, and provide protection for marine life - by extracting destructive urchins from those ecosystems and selling them as luxury gourmet seafood. Urchinomics is one of just three commercial ventures endorsed by the United Nations’ Ocean Decade campaign. Having founded multiple successful businesses, his decades of experience across investment management, property, and biotechnology, have given him an unparalleled approach to recognising what it takes to develop solutions in the fight against global warming.
