Stephan is one of the founding partners at AlphaQ Venture Capital, a leading tech enabled asset manager for Venture Capital that supports early-stage VC funds. Prior to founding AlphaQ, Stephan was a serial entrepreneur who raised over €50 million from top venture capital funds such as Cherry Ventures and Speedinvest. He also has an impressive track record in the startup world, having co-founded Intel Ignite, the best early-stage DeepTech startup accelerator, and led Intel's European Startup Program. Stephan has also founded and led successful companies, including FinCompare, a fast-growing fintech platform for SME financing that was acquired by Germany's largest banking group. He was also the founder and CEO of Watchmaster, a re-commerce platform for new and used luxury watches, where he helped shape the digital transformation of the watch market. Stephan is an active angel investor with a portfolio of multiple direct investments, including Talon.one and Caya. Before becoming an entrepreneur and investor, Stephan worked for Groupon in London and played a pivotal role in the company's success and growth in Europe. He began his career as an investment analyst at Waterland, a private equity fund, and as a management consultant at Roland Berger, a leading global strategy consultancy. Stephan also worked for BMW in Tokyo and UBS in London. Stephan holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Vienna and a master's degree in international management with a major in corporate finance from ESCP Europe in Paris, London, and Berlin.
