John Ludwig

John Ludwig is based out of United States and is the President & Chief Growth Officer of CAC Specialty. John Ludwig serves as a Founding Partner of Ignition Partners, Ignition Venture Partners III, L.P., Ignition Venture Partners IV, L.P. and Ignition Venture Partners II, L.P. John Ludwig invests in end-user and consumer-facing technology companies. Prior to this, he spent 11 years at Microsoft Corporation, where he served as Vice President of Product Development. He served as Vice President of Development at SN, he had overall responsibility for product development. On behalf of MSN, John Ludwig's team negotiated MSN partnering deals with Compaq, BestBuy, Costco, and other distribution partners. He created the MSN Mobile team and partnership with Nextel. John Ludwig directed the development and release of the MSN portal and search and developed the Passport network for authentication and commerce across the entire network of Microsoft and partner websites. He built the 700-member team responsible for the first four releases of Internet Explorer, growing market share from 0 percent to 60 percent. John Ludwig co-managed the development of Windows 95, led the acquisition of the initial technology for Microsoft Exchange, led the team that created Windows for Workgroups, which grew to 50 percent market share to become the most widely-used peer networking product worldwide. He serves as a Director of Judy's Book, Inc. and Network Magic. He served as a Director of Fat Spaniel Technologies, Inc. and Pure Networks. John Ludwig also served on the Board of Avogadro and AOL Wireless. He received an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. degree, with distinction, in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, cum laude honors, from Ohio State.
