Steve Spurlock

"Steve has been active in venture capital for nearly 20 years. He currently serves as Benchmark's operating partner, running the day-to-day operations of the firm and acting as counsel to the firm. He joined Benchmark in 1999 after spending four years as a partner with Gunderson Dettmer. Prior to co-founding Gunderson Dettmer in 1995, Steve was an attorney with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. His practice focused on the representation of private and public emerging growth companies, which encompassed a variety of private financing transactions, public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. Steve also represented a number of venture capital firms in connection with their formation and fundraising. Steve is co-author of Formation and Financing of Emerging Growth Companies, published by Glasser LegalWorks. He attended the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and U.C.
