Alex Tong is the Co-Founder and General Partner of Seguin Ventures. Previously Alex served as a Venture Partner at early stage FinTech and enterprise software VC firm, Information Venture Partners. Alex joined as the first investment team hire in 2016 and was rapidly promoted over the course of his seven-year tenure there. Alex invested across three funds during his tenure, and internally led or supported investments in BigID, Cinchy, Coconut Software, Jirav, LendingFront, Lydia.ai, Nue, Procurify, Strike Graph and Verafin (acq. Nasdaq), among others. He served on many of Information VP’s portfolio company boards as a director or observer. Prior to joining Information Venture Partners, Alex worked at Hootsuite (backed by Accel, Insight Partners) as its first team hire in corporate development. Hootsuite is an enterprise social media management software company now used by over 80% of the Fortune 100 companies. Alex worked cross-functionally with its leadership team on numerous growth initiatives, including formulating partnerships that drove increased product adoption and revenue from both its small and medium-sized business customers and customers across its four key enterprise verticals. Alex maintains a strong connection to the Hootsuite ecosystem as an angel investor or advisor to select high-potential startups.Prior to Hootsuite, Alex worked at CIBC in its leveraged finance group. Alex began his career at BMO Capital Markets, in Toronto, with the mergers and acquisitions and the financial institutions group. Alex graduated with First Class Honours and holds a BBA from Simon Fraser University.
