Ray Henderson

Currently: founding partner at Lessons Learned Ventures, LLC. LLV is a boutique education technology advisory firm. It provides advisement to emerging ed tech firms on product and corporate strategy, as well as transactional and strategic advisory services to venture capital and private equity firms operating in the ed tech market. The firm and it's associates make selected investments in promising seed stage ed tech firms. Previously: operating executive and entrepreneur in education technology. Ray began his career as the Silicon Valley Industry Editor for Pearson Education. He developed an early learning platform to package web functionality with textbooks, "Companion Website" that became a standard form in the industry. He later rose to president of Pearson's digital publishing unit where he helped form a highly successful joint venture between Pearson and O'Reilly for Safari Books Online (now an O'Reilly & Associates holding). As an entrepreneur he led product teams for eCollege. com (IPO 1999/acquired by Pearson 2005), ANGEL Learning (Acquired by public company Blackboard in 2009). He then went on to lead Blackboard as their President and CTO through a go-private transaction with Providence Equity.
