Chris McCoy is a systems architect, investor, and community builder who created STORE, a decentralized computing protocol that puts everyday users—not Big Tech—in control. As Founding Partner of McCoy Ventures, he invests in technologies and companies that expand opportunities for people from all backgrounds. Additionally, he founded Footprint and Your Sports, growing them into successful businesses. His work combines technological innovation with practical community applications. The governance systems he designs help both digital platforms and real-world communities make decisions fairly and transparently, even as they grow. His approach bridges the gap between advanced technology and human needs. Chris has a special interest in using technology to strengthen communities. In his hometown of Kelso, Washington, he created the Hilander Hall of Fame using the same democratic principles that power his tech innovations. This community-owned hall of fame brought together generations of residents and fulfilled his great uncle's wish to "do something great for the kids of Kelso." His background gives him a unique perspective on technology and opportunity. Growing up on food stamps in rural Washington before becoming a systems designer and investor, Chris understands firsthand how access to resources can transform lives. This experience drives his mission to create technologies that work for people across different geographies and economic situations. Through McCoy Ventures, he has invested in diverse companies including Lightcell Energy, Zestworld, and Encore, as well as early blockchain projects like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and MobileCoin. He also founded Data4America, a nonpartisan think tank that uses data and AI to make policy discussions more accessible. Recognition: - Named one of "55 Unknown Rockstars in Tech" by Marc Andreessen (2014) - US Patent for BlockFinBFT consensus algorithm
