Luis Valdich leads Citi Ventures' fintech venture investing activities globally. In this role Luis partners closely with startup founders, other investors, Citi businesses, and Citi clients to identify and invest in distinctive startups in which Citi can add value. Prior to Citi Ventures, Luis founded and ran JPMorgan Chase's Strategic Investments group for nearly 8 years and invested in 30+ companies, notably Square, Markit, Tradeweb, BATS/DirectEdge (acquired by Cboe Global Markets), Air Lease Corp, LME (acquired by HKEX), clearXchange (acquired by Early Warning and renamed Zelle), Solid Biosciences, Symphony Communications, and Avant. Previously Luis was a consultant at McKinsey and a principal at Softbank where he made venture investments in the Americas. Luis received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College.
