David S. Samuels is the President and CEO at Buoyant Brands. Immediately prior to forming KoldCast, Samuels was CEO of Emmerzion Worldwide, LLC, an entertainment marketing and product placement firm, and President of Tanner & Haley Productions where he was developing branded entertainment properties for the company. Previously, Samuels was chairman, chief executive officer and president of the Irvine, CA-based, State Of The Art, Inc., a leading accounting software company that developed what is known in the market today as Quicken personal finance software. Previously known as the Electric Checkbook, Samuels negotiated and sold the Electric Checkbook brand to Intuit in 1987 renaming the product, Quicken. A brand marketing and product distribution expert, with a career background in public accounting, Samuels created innovative brand marketing strategies and distribution methodologies that became the new model for the industry. During Samuels's nine year tenure, his success did not go without notice. Samuels was named to Ernst & Young and Inc. Magazine's 1992 Orange County Entrepreneur of the Year in High-Technology. Under Samuels's leadership, BusinessWeek recognized the company for the second consecutive year in its November 1993 listing of "Hot Growth Companies: The Best Small Companies in the World." The May 25, 1992 issue, BusinessWeek ranked State Of The Art 16th on its list of the 100 Best Small Corporations in the U.S., and previously included the company among its "High-Tech Hotshots," a listing of the 25 fastest growing startups in the nation. In November 1991, Forbes ranked the company number seven out of "The 200 Best Small Companies in America." The company also completed a successful initial public offering in 1991. Prior to joining State Of The Art, Samuels founded and managed his own public accounting firm, David S. Samuels Company, and also served as president and CEO of MicrAccount Corporation, a microcomputer accounting software-consulting firm.
