Alexandre is currently working on a project in stealth to be announced soon. As the former Head of Ventures at XTX Markets, Alexandre led the venture capital arm of the leading algorithmic market maker that leverages machine learning to trade >18% of daily European equities volumes and >7% of global FX (top 3 globally). He focused on Seed to Series A companies using ML as a core technology across all verticals (incl. healthcare, self-driving cars, agriculture, architecture…). Iconic initial investments include Anthropic (ranked in the CB Insights 2023 Top 100 most promising AI companies globally), Wayve, BIOS, BlueSkeye AI, SWAPP, Terray Therapeutics (partnered with Calico, an Alphabet company post-investment), IOMED (CB Insights 2023 Digital Health Top 50), and Voiceitt (partnered with Cisco/Webex). He also led follow-on rounds in Traceair and Logically (CB Insights 2023 Top 100 most promising AI companies globally), Turbine (CB Insights 2023 Digital Health Top 50) and oversaw the exit of Dia Imaging to Philips. He served on the boards of over 12 AI/ML startups, including DiA Imaging Analysis (prior to the sale to Philips), TraceAir, Turbine, Logically, Xihelm, and BlueSkeye AI. Before joining XTX Ventures, Alex founded Cleverton Ventures, a venture investment club focusing on early-stage companies in fintech and healthcare. Alexandre is passionate about finding and supporting innovative startups that apply AI/ML to solve real-world problems across various industries and geographies. He also enjoys building communities (such as launching the Young VCs Dinners in 2017, now with >1,000 VC members) and contributing to developing the Deep Tech community. For example, he initiated the Conception X & XTX Ventures partnership. Conception X is the leading deep tech accelerator for PhDs in the UK. He also launched the Creative Destruction Lab "Machine Learning Stream" (pan-European Machine Learning accelerator) by joining forces with HEC Paris and Oxford. His previous roles include overseeing Richard Branson's venture portfolio at Virgin Management (holding company of the Virgin Group and Family Office of the Branson family in a team of two, as an Associate). He supported the execution of the investment process into companies including Upside Foods (fka Memphis Meats), the first lab-grown meat company also backed by Bill Gates and follow-on investments in Slack (productivity tool), Blockchain.com (crypto wallet), Capsule Pharmacy (pharmacy delivery in NYC), DoctorOnDemand (telemedicine), Loansnap (smart mortgage lending); the exit of Ring (connected doorbell) to Amazon. Monitored portfolio of >40 investments, including Transferwise, Slack, and Pinterest. Alexandre is an alumnus of Imperial College and HEC Paris and holds an MSc in Finance and Strategy. He is Swiss-born, speaks four languages and enjoys Kitesurfing and martial arts.
