Jim Aylward is a successful entrepreneur, corporate executive and investor. He co-founded, built and sold a location-based technology startup company to a FORTUNE 300 location data and technology company. He has participated in multiple successful exits of portfolio startup companies specializing in biotech, location technology, data security, technology media and mobile data management to companies including Adobe, Twitter, Liberty Media, Informa PLC and Teleflex Medical. His investments have included two early stage biotech companies co-founded by Dr. Robert Langer of MIT. Jim Aylward is Founding Managing Director of American Angel Fund (stealth mode), and Managing General Partner and co-founder of Clark Hill Partners, LLC, an investment firm focused on seed to later stage (Series B+) investments, as well as income producing real estate development opportunities. He is an active investor in and adviser to start up and established companies, focusing on world class technology companies in the Boston / Cambridge technology hub. Jim was co-founder and executive vice president of Harvard Design and Mapping (HDM), an advanced location intelligence software development and geographic information systems (GIS) consulting firm located in Cambridge, MA and Washington, DC. He led teams of geospatial scientists, civil engineers and software developers to create revolutionary technology products and platforms. He worked extensively with private and public sector clients worldwide on a variety of breakthrough geospatial technology projects. HDM was named 2006 Small Business of the Year for Massachusetts by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Founded in 1988, Jim and his partner Kija Kim sold HDM to the First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF, then ranked 289 on the FORTUNE 500 - now CoreLogic NYSE:CLGX), the largest real estate information company in the world, in 2006.
