Andrey Brutski

Andrey Brutski is a highly accomplished technology executive, with a robust track record of leadership and innovation in engineering. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Engineering at Warby Parker, Andrey has been instrumental in restructuring the engineering organization to enhance ownership, accountability, and domain expertise. He has successfully established and developed engineering teams across Customer, Retail, Discovery, and EyeCare domains, transforming legacy applications into modern, service-based architectures. Under his strategic vision, new systems such as Account, Search, Recommendations, Practice Management, and Retail have driven over $32 million in YoY bookings, with a $10 million increase directly attributed to his team’s implementation. Andrey’s introduction of best-in-class software engineering practices has significantly enhanced developer experience, increased velocity, and improved system resiliency. Prior to his role at Warby Parker, Andrey served as the VP of Engineering at Luminary Media. There, he directed the development of Platform, Catalog, Search, Recommendations, and Media Streaming systems, designing a geo-redundant solution to bolster system resilience. His tenure at Jet.com/Walmart saw him promoted thrice, ultimately managing a team of 17 engineers and leading critical projects that increased search recall and precision. His expertise spans a wide array of tools and languages, including F#, Golang, and ElasticSearch, and his work across various business domains such as retail, healthcare, eCommerce, and media streaming has solidified his reputation as a leader in functional languages, distributed systems, and scalable, high-throughput, low-latency systems. Andrey holds a Master of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Belarusian State University.
