Joe Schmidt

Joe Schmidt has extensive business development, strategic planning and financial management experience leading agricultural multinationals and emerging technology companies. Currently, Joe is Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at BioConsortia, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for partner and product development as well as strategy. Prior to joining BioConsortia, Schmidt was Director, Global Business Development and Licensing at Bayer CropScience (Bayer) where he was responsible for the origination and assessment of acquisitions and the development, structuring and closing of licensing agreements. He joined Bayer via its acquisition of AgraQuest, Inc. where he was VP of Business Development. Prior to joining AgraQuest, he was VP of Business Development for Ventria BioScience, one of the first companies to commercialize recombinant proteins from plant-based systems. He was also an early employee and the Director of Business Development at CyberCrop, an agricultural e-commerce start-up. Earlier in his career, he held managerial positions in strategic planning, business development, trading and internal audit at Deere and Company, Cargill, Inc. and Purina Mills Inc.
