Mark Hanrahan

Currently the managing partner at Markmel Co., LLC, in Urbandale, Iowa, Mark Allen Hanrahan has more than 25 years of experience in the finance and real estate investment sectors. He prepared for his career by earning a bachelor of arts in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. While at school, Mark Allen Hanrahan held a position as a staff accountant at financial firm Carney, Alexander & Marold CPAs, where he garnered experience in auditing and tax returns. Mr. Hanrahan passed the CPA exam in 1991. After graduation, Mr. Hanrahan joined Principal Real Estate Investors (PREI) in Des Moines, Iowa, and served the firm in a number of positions over the next 24 years. As the company’s financial analyst, he designed and implemented a new database to enhance the reporting process. In 1997, he earned his MBA with honors from Drake University and subsequently obtained a promotion to managing director of acquisitions and dispositions. Among his achievements at PREI, Mr. Hanrahan successfully negotiated and oversaw joint venture partnerships and facilitated over $10 billion in multifamily, office, retail, and industrial transactions. Mr. Hanrahan is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). In his free time, Mark Allen Hanrahan participates in cycling, fishing, skiing, and farming. He is also a triathlete and has completed more than 60 triathlons and six Ironman races across the United States and currently sits on the board of the Des Moines Triathlon Club. He also enjoys reading, traveling, and following Chicago and Iowa sports teams.
