David is a serial entrepreneur who, over his twenty-five career, playing the critical role in more than $3 billion of institutional real estate and capital markets transactions, many as a principal. David is the founder of Realized, an end-to-end Fintech/WealthTech platform allowing accredited investors to buy ownership interests in commercial properties and create custom portfolios that minimize capital gains taxes and deliver tax-sheltered, passive income. The Realized marketplace is the missing link between investors seeking long-term, passive income and top-quality real estate operators that want efficient access to 1031 exchange capital. Before Realized, David founded Centrist Capital, a boutique venture capital firm that thematically invests in founders and their early-stage companies. Before Centrist, David co-founded a fully-integrated real estate operating company, which between 2004 and 2009 (when he sold his interest in the firm), acquired 12,500 apartments units across the Sunbelt, representing a total investment more than $925 million. David also co-founded Forward Capital, a structured finance company, as well as Convenience Retail Group, the parent company of a real estate investment trust and a wholesale gasoline distributor. Early in his career, David held positions with Security Capital Group, Prologis, Archstone Communities, Equitable Real Estate (now Morgan Stanley Real Estate) and Arthur Andersen. David currently serves as a board member and advisor to seven promising technology companies. David is a past chair of the Board of Governors of LifeWorks. He is involved in his church and various other community activities across Austin, where he lives with his college sweetheart and wife of 25 years, Laura, and their three children. David attended Texas A&M University where he received his MS in Land Economics and Real Estate, BBA in Finance and Real Estate, and served in various leadership positions, including Vice President of the Student Body.
