Peter Cowley studied Engineering and Computer Science at Cambridge University, now lives near Cambridge and has owned/ran small businesses in technology and construction. Peter was UK business angel of the year 2014/15. He is a Fellow in Entrepreneurship at the Cambridge Judge Business School. He has been an active angel investor for nearly ten years (and has invested in nearly 50 startups) and is the Investment Director of the Marshall of Cambridge, Martlet Corporate Angel division, and a board member of Cambridge Angels. He has led many investment deals and is a non-executive director of five angel-backed technology start-ups. Peter has spec-built several domestic houses and refurbished many others, including the £1.7 million Cambridge Advice Centre. Peter has been voluntary chair, treasurer and trustee of numerous charities for over 15 years – the Citizens Advice service, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation charity and a private sixth form college. Peter was a director of the Cambridge Computer Lab Ring and ran their mentoring service, and is chair of the ideaSpace Accelerator’s supporters. He is a freeman of the City of London and is on the advisory board of a Social Enterprise in criminal justice.
