Tamara Elias

Tamara Elias, M.D., brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare to the Partnership. She joined Essex Woodlands after six years at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. As a senior engagement manager in McKinsey’s New York office, she advised pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies in strategic, operational, and business development areas. Prior to joining McKinsey, Dr. Elias was a general surgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was awarded one of four national grants in plastic and reconstructive surgery during a research fellowship at NYU. Dr. Elias is a Kauffman Fellow and she is also an organizing member of MedtechWomen for women leaders in the industry, which hosts an annual MedtechVision conference to discuss and propose solutions to the most challenging issues facing the sector. Currently Dr. Elias serves on the Board of Directors for Millennium Pharmacy Systems and BreatheAmerica and she serves as an observer to the Board of Directors for Medseek. Dr. Elias graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Anthropology from Yale University and obtained her Doctor of Medecine degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She joined Essex Woodlands as Principal in the New York office in January 2007 and was promoted to Partner in January 2013.
