Coach David Parker

Coach David Parker is the National Men's Javelin Coach for the Chinese Athletics Association and the Head Performance Javelin Coach for the Shanghai Track & Field Team. David also co-owns The Javelin Throw and Sightline Performance. David Parker formerly worked for British Athletics as the National Performance Institute Throws Coach and the Lead Throws Coach at Loughborough University. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees at this institution and is highly regarded there. David was the National Coach Mentor for javelin throw and combination events during his time with England Athletics. David worked with a diverse range of Olympic and Paralympic sports as a senior strength and conditioning coach at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Yorkshire. During this time, David Parker coached the national volleyball and handball teams of the United Kingdom in addition to working with the British diving and England rugby leagues. A graduate degree in Sports Biomechanics enables David to blend his coaching philosophy with scientifically based reasoning. As an outstanding international athlete himself, David is a force to be reckoned with. As an international athlete, he represented England in the 1998 World Junior Championships and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. David has been a strength and conditioning coach for 18 years, 16 of those spent in the high-performance sector. David is a United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) member. He has extensive experience as a performance coach in both the able-bodied and handicapped categories, working with athletes ranging from grassroots to professional international competitors. Along with his role as a superb mentor and coach, David collaborates with other professionals in the field, giving knowledge and offering assistance whenever needed. Dedicated to his family, David is also a passionate skier and golfer in his spare time. David is not only a superior mentor and coach, but he also works with other coaches, sharing insights and providing support whenever possible. David is a loving father and husband, a lifelong Liverpool Football Club fan, an avid skier and golfer, and a two-sport athlete in Shanghai who plays for two different teams.
