Jimmy Kan

Jimmy Kan is an Investment Partner at Anzu Partners, focusing on semiconductor technologies, hardware products, and next-generation materials. He supports portfolio companies in business development, strategic marketing, and product management. Previously, Jimmy was a Senior Hardware Engineer and Researcher at Qualcomm, where he developed advanced memory technologies and sensors for low-power computing and IoT devices, contributing to a deeper understanding of embedding next-generation memory into leading-edge logic processes. Before Qualcomm, he worked at Genentech, optimizing high-throughput processes for protein purification in biologics. Jimmy has given invited talks globally on magnetics, nanomaterials, and advanced memory technologies, authored 30+ peer-reviewed papers, and holds 24+ granted U.S. patents. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Physics from the University of California, San Diego, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering. He serves as a board director of several Anzu portfolio companies, including AM Batteries, Arduino, EnCharge AI, South 8 Technologies, Aspinity, Liquid Instruments, and Niron Magnetics.
