Bram is a product designer who has been working on the forefront of 3D printing and who co-founded Wevolver, a platform where communities collaborate on open source hardware, such as robots and drones. After graduating in product design in 2009 Bram started a design studio. The studio applied advanced technologies to make better and more sustainable products. The studio’s approach was collaborating with field experts from multiple disciplines such as scientists, engineers and craftsmen. The resulting work included extremely lightweight 3D printed furniture and the development of sustainable mass-production techniques. Out of Bram’s frustration not being able to share his gathered learnings openly, and thus allowing for more people to participate in the collaborative design process, he started Wevolver. At the Wevolver webplatform all information to build technology such as robotics, 3D printers and drones is being shared by their creators with a community of makers and tinkerers. Wevolver’s mission is to provide everyone access to the knowledge necessary for creating tanglible products. This democratizes the development of hardware technology, just as software development has been democratized by the open source software movement.
