Somik Behera

Somik Behera is the General Manager, Software & AI Products at Supermicro, where he leads the launch of the SuperCloud Suite, a portfolio of software products designed to drive significant revenue growth and accelerate Supermicro’s transformation into a software-first solutions leader. Under his leadership, the SuperCloud Suite is projected to deliver tens of millions in direct software revenue while influencing hundreds of millions to billions of dollars in hardware revenue annually, underscoring its transformative impact on Supermicro’s business. Previously, Somik was the Co-Founder and Head of Products at CloudNatix, where he pioneered autopilot technology for cloud-native operations and grew the company to $1 million in committed annual recurring revenue (CARR) in its first year. Earlier in his career, Somik served as Head of Products at D2iQ (formerly Mesosphere), where he scaled the Mesosphere business from pre-product to over 100,000 clusters and a strong recurring revenue base. Before that, he was an early Product Manager at Nicira (acquired by VMware for $1.3B), where he helped establish the software-defined networking (SDN) market, and an early engineer at VMware, where he launched foundational products like vSphere, Capacity IQ, and vCenter Operations 1.0. Somik has extensive experience leading cross-functional teams across product management, design, marketing, engineering, and go-to-market (GTM) strategies. He is also an active angel investor, focusing on early-stage cloud infrastructure and AI-native startups. Somik holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin and completed graduate work in Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. He holds 10+ patents in cloud infrastructure, AI, and SDN, and is the inventor of container networking for software-defined networking (SDN).
