Darcy Bergen's parents were in Kenya in 2008 to do missionary work, such as building orphanages, drilling wells, and other humanitarian work. Unfortunately, the Bergens were brutally attacked by seven locals. Both were miraculously saved. Darcy Bergen founded Bergens Mission in 2014, hoping to turn the traumatic experience into something positive. The non-profit organization helps orphanages all over the country and works to develop the entire region. Bergen hopes that by assisting in the education and provision of Kenyan children, the foundation will be able to prevent youth from choosing a path that leads to violence. Darcy Bergen is a teacher. Bergen is passionate about educating people on various aspects of financial planning. He believes that clients should only invest in financial products that they fully understand. He teaches retirement planning classes at local colleges and, with his wife, Heather, co-hosts a popular radio show, Safe Money and Income. Bergen is working on a book about retirement planning, including topics like social security and risk management. Bergen primarily works in the field of retirement planning. He does, however, recognize the importance of teaching the next generation responsible money management. Bergen encourages parents to begin educating their children as soon as possible. Chores can be done by very young children, and parents can use this to teach them that work brings money, which brings toys and other items they want to buy. Saving money for things they want is a skill that even young children can learn.
